For your consideration is this fine & beautifully preserved vintage 1961 Omega Speedmaster ref: 2998-3. Serial: 17.76X.XXX

Brief history:

This watch came from the estate of the original owner. When I acquired it, the crystal was heavily scratched and the watch was extremely dirty but completely untouched. The crystal has been carefully polished to remove the scratches, and the case and bracelet have been cleaned.

The watch is currently undergoing servicing.

Condition report:

Dial: Original Pre-Professional Radium dial in excellent condition. The dial surface is clean and free of scratches.
The original Radium lume is in fantastic shape and has developed lovely patina.
The lume plots are in overall excellent shape showing light signs of deterioration.

Hands: Original Radium hour & minute hands in excellent shape.

Case: Sharp Symmetrical straight lug case. This watch has never been polished.
The lugs are thick and crisp, and though somewhat "sleeve-worn", the original factory brushed finish can be seen on the sides of the case, especially between the crown and the pushers.
The caseback is sharp and free of extensive scarring which are (unfortunately) common on these watches which have been opened in the past without proper tools.

Crown & pushers: Original "Flat-foot" crown. Original pushers.

Bezel: Original "DON" (Dot Over Ninety) TACHYMETRE bezel in excellent condition. The bezel shows some wear as shown in pictures, but overall in great shape.

Bracelet: Original long buckle 7077 dated to the 2nd quarter of 1961 with one single notch and one double notch #6 end links as this example falls right within the transition period from the single to double notch end-links. A cool quirk.

Movement:  The virgin Omega Cal. 321 has never been serviced. The movement screws are completely untouched and unmarked, a testament to the watch's remarkably preserved condition. The movement is currently undergoing its first-ever service. The watch will come with a one-year service warranty.

Accessories:  Incredibly rare and original 1st generation Omega Speedmaster box in fantastic and undamaged condition and original owner's manual (containing hand written notes from the orignal owner)

Notes: Beautiful and honest examples of any CK2998 are becoming extremely difficult to find. Especially an early example is such stunning and untouched condition with the original box and owner's manual.
